Summer Mix Tape 09

Inside My Head Podcast number Eighty Seven

I did nearly nothing on the rest of my “stay-cation”, and therefore, have little to talk about for this show. I had lots and lots of time to relax, which is what I really wanted, so, it’s all good.

So, instead of a rant, you get extra music to enjoy in this episode.

Today’s haiku of frustration is called : “Not Cool”.

Are you working this summer at a dreary, tiresome, frustrating wage slave type of job? Are you stuck in retail hell? Do you need more haiku in your life? I got what you need!
Haiku of Frustration: Wage Slave is available as a download, or a cute little pocket sized book. Now with new and improved paper!

Music in today’s show by:

* Planetary Nights, with a song called “Road Trip”.

* Jennings, with a song called “Doorway”.
Want to know more about this song? Jennings has a video that explains how she wrote the song, and what it is about:

Unfortunately, the offer of free music mentioned in this video has expired.

* Pistolita, with a song called “Oliver, Under the Moon”.
Check out this very energetic video for that song:

* The A-B Theory, with a song called “Tell Me How Colorado Is”, and another song called “Ataraxia”.
Now, for a limited time, you can get free music from the A-B Theory right here. Don’t miss out on this beautiful music! Thank you to Jesse Smith, of The A-B Theory, for being so kind, and offering free music to listeners of my show.

Here’s a live version of “Tell Me How Colorado Is”. It’s followed by a song called “A City Scene”, that I did not play on this episode of Inside My Head, but, is still a amazing song. I am impressed with how great The A-B Theory sounds live.

And while I’m at it:
Here is the video of the song “Comin’ Days” by the band Heath Street that I played in the previous episode of the Inside My Head Podcast:

Comments on today’s show by:
* Rowley from The Dark Compass Podcast, (among other things).
* Robert, author of “My Ultimate Slam Book” , (among other things).
* Nathan Lott from Lott’s Thoughts podcasts, (among other things).

The following two commenters had something to say about my video, The Ants Go Marching:
* PismoBeach, who has lots of cute and amusing YouTube videos for you to enjoy.
* And a YouTube user named “Ultimo Latino”, whom I know nothing about. He will just have to remain anonymous, for now.

If you enjoyed today’s show, please take a moment and write a review of the Inside My Head Podcast on itunes. I would appreciate it. Not too many people have written anything there yet, so, this is your chance for your writing to appear on the front page of reviews over there.

Tune in next week for more great music, haiku, and details about how my first week of summer school went!

Do Not Test Me!

Big fat rant in today’s episode about an evil called “Standardized Testing”. Have you taken these kinds of tests? What do you think about this issue? Listen, and then leave me a comment.

Today’s Haiku of Frustration is untitled, and is something I wrote for the Envisage 365 photo project, when my school was doing Standardized Testing.

To read more of the Wikipedia article I read a piece of in my show, click here.

Music in today’s show by:

* Colin from the Ourobouros Podcast, with a song called “The Right Way (Remix)”. The original version of “The Right Way” is by The Sidebars. If you haven’t seen this yet, here is the first part of the video diary about the collaboration across the ocean between The Sidebars and Colin, as we work on a song together.

* Two songs in today’s show are by the band Fulton Read. I played their songs “Chemistry”, and “Indivisualize”. You can also check out the band’s official page here.

Almost Wasn’t

Inside My Head Podcast number eighty four

This is the episode that almost wasn’t. First, I got sick. (No, it wasn’t the Swine Flu). Then I recorded an entire show, but garageband ate parts of it, (and spit out the rest). Finally, today, I tried to podcast, but the neighbors wouldn’t stop making all kinds of noise. /sigh

I managed to power through all that to get this episode out for y’all to enjoy.

There are several Haiku of Frustration in today’s show, for you to be amused by. Add your own, at Haiku of Frustration dot com.

Time to watch some videos!
In the previous episode of Inside My Head, I played a song by Puppetbox. Here is their awesome music video for that song: Kill You Dead.

My video Why I’m Sick, which is no longer available on YouTube can still be viewed here. Why is it no longer on YouTube? Listen to find out!

My video, “Ants Go Marching”, got a nice comment on YouTube! Here is that video:

Music on today’s show is by Shill. There is an interesting story about how I got their music. I played their songs “Pick A Fight”, and “Play”.

I started off this show with The SIdebars, with our song called “Bubble”.

Wanna chat with me about World of Warcraft? Find me here in the live chat room every Monday night: All Things Azeroth.

No

Inside My Head show number eighty one.

No. Just no.
Things are not going my way, and that includes my allergies.

Wondering how this year’s “Quest for a Shamrock Shake” went? Shawno and I recorded our yearly trek to McDonalds, and I included it in today’s show. You get to come along with us, and see if we did, in fact, manage to obtain the highly coveted Shamrock Shake.

Today’s haiku of frustration is called : “Pollen Count”.

This haiku is part of my contributions to the Envisage 365 blog. The blog started in September of 2007, and there were fifty women from all over the world involved. Each of us submitted one photo each day, and we will continue to do so until the year is over. We are more than halfway through now. If you like looking at photos, you may want to go over there and click around. All my photos have an exclusive haiku attached to them, that you won’t have read anywhere else.

Music in today’s show by:
* Trey Green, with a song called “My Fantastic Ass”. Couldn’t say no to the guy with the Fantastic Ass song! ;)

* Jonathan Coulton, with a song called, “Take Care Of Me”. I’m always impressed by the work of Jonathan Coulton.

Normally, I do not include videos of songs that are made by fans, but, I am fairly certain that Jonathan Coulton allows his fans to use his music for videos they create. I found this wonderful video for the song “Take Care of Me”, by Jonathan Coulton, that some brilliant person put together with scenes from the TV show “House”. Unfortunately, the creator of the video has disallowed embedding, so, you will just have to go here to check it out. It’s worth it, especially if you are a fan of House.

Ok, that’s all I got for now. “Have a great day, or not. The choice is up to you!” (This phrase is announced daily at the school I work in).

You Will Learn Holds

When I got the interview for the job I have now, I was told something ominous. “These kids get violent, and you will learn holds”. Holds? Well, three months later, I have learned holds. I went to a two day training this week to learn the holds, and you can hear all about how that went.

Today’s Haiku of Frustration is called: Training. You can read that one, and more at haikuoffrustration.com. Add your own today!

Want more haiku? There are 98 haiku in my book, Haiku of Frustration: Wage Slave. Still available at lulu.com. The contest my book is in continues until March 31, 2009. Buy a book and help me win a contest. :)

Music in today’s show by:
* Lizards From Afar, with a brand new song called “Poster Child”.

* The Lightfighters , with a song called “California”

* Blaggards , with a song called “Irish Rover”.

Enjoy the show! I’m going out to play. ;)
