Anti-Valentine Four
Inside My Head podcast number 141
This episode is the annual Anti-Valentine’s Day episode. It is no secret that I am not a fan of Valentine’s Day. So, every year I do an episode of Inside My Head that explains a little bit about why I dislike Valentine’s Day so much. Instead of playing romantic love songs, I have a bunch of songs about relationships just aren’t working out.
I’ve got a song about people who want to be together, if only they weren’t already in a relationship with someone else. I’ve got songs sung from the viewpoint of a person who is all done with his or her relationship, and would like to move on. And I’ve got songs about people cheating on the person that they are in a relationship with. There’s even a song about money problems.
If you want to hear more about why I despise Valentine’s Day, or if you just are in the mood to hear more IMH episodes full of songs that definitely are NOT love songs, there are three previous Anti-Valentine’s Day episodes you can check out. (Just type the words “Anti Valentine” into the little search box on this page, and it will bring you right to ‘em).
In happier news, an update: I don’t have to go to LA for Jury Duty after all. To hear a whole lot more about that, check out episode four of the Halfway Around the World podcast, where Colin and I talk about it.

You totally nailed it, Jen. I completely agree with you about Valentine’s day. Its seems so manufactured and makes us all feel obligated to do things that, though latent in our hearts, feels forced, not at all spontaneous, nor purely romantic. Every couple should have a kind of Valentines at different points in their relationships, but not the time dictated by the rest of society. Thanks for a great show! Please keep them coming!
